How To Use Lashing Straps?

When you purchase lashing strips, you will find they come in two separate parts and have to be assembled. Assembly varies between brands so read the instructions. It’s straightforward.
To fasten the cargo securely, push the thread through the ratchet buckle and open the ratchet handle. Then place the webbing in the mandrel and thread it through the slot.
You will need to pull the webbing over the spindle until the strap presses securely onto the surface of the cargo. However, be careful not to overtighten the webbing or you may damage the goods when you tighten the straps.
To tighten the straps, use the ratchet mechanism until you find the right amount of tension. The straps should be plush against the surface of the cargo but with enough comfort that the container is not damaged. The litmus test is to leave enough tension to push a pen tip underneath.
